Some of you may not know this, but Dumbo is moving. Of course, if you call yourself a Walt Disney World fan and didn't know it, well, (insert snarky comment here.)
As part of the ginormous, historic expansion of Fantasyland, the famous flying Dumbo ride is being relocated to a new section of Fantasyland called Storybook Circus. And he's not just moving. While the actual ride itself isn't changing so much, it is doubling. There will be two towers of flying elephants. But that's not all. The attraction will have an interactive circus-themed queue to pass the wait times and engage guests in the overall experience.
While we've still yet to see a lot of detail of what we can expect besides some smudgy concept art (which is amazing considering it may be open, at least in part, within a month and change) someone did post this sneaky video of one of the ride sections being tested. What I love the most is the new central set-piece erected atop the hub of the attraction. Instead of just circling Timothy standing atop a tower, this looks like a work of art, including golden busts of Dumbo's mama and the Stork who delivered him lining the top.
It may be the same, time-tested family favorite ride, but the attraction is going to be an eye-popping work of whimsical art. Can't wait to see it finished!
